Could you give the Association board members a chance to discuss this with you in advance of the next meeting at the end of April?” As a result, Yoko suddenly decided to return Yodoe in late April. Dismantling of the Kitchen and Western-style Rooms Progressed During the Fourth Round!

"Yodoe Project" started on the day before Christmas Eve in 2018. Major cleanup was done during the second round in late January 2019, and demolition and renovation began during the third round in late March 2019.  Two months later, the fourth round of the Yodoe Project was implemented from May 24 to May 26, 2019. During these two days, almost all of the demolition was completed.

This time, two new members from Tottori Prefecture joined.

From Kurayoshi

  • Yatsuda (Kohei Yatsuda, the plasterer)

From Yonago, Tottori Prefecture

Eight people moved all the kitchenware, such as the microwave, sink, refrigerator, and shelves, from the kitchen. The wall between the kitchen and the rice storage room was removed. In the end, the former four rooms, which used to be the kitchen, rice storage, living and dining room, and Western-style room, were connected into one.

Mitchie's South Indian Cuisine

This time, in addition to those eight members, Yoko asked the following person to join.

Thanks to him, members could spend two happy days with delicious South Indian meals and curry. People often think he is a professional chef because of his high-quality cooking, but his main job is as a graphic designer who mainly works in advertising design and production direction for printed materials and websites.

The kitchen in the main house was demolished and unusable at that time, so Mitchie cooked everything in a small kitchen in the annex. Everyone's excitement was maxed out by the variety of South Indian dishes made with carefully selected ingredients!

Mask “Yoko & Shu”

During the third round, half of the attic floor had been removed. After discussions among the members, one-third of the floor was left as is. Some pillars supporting the attic floor had also been removed, creating a more open space. Finally, the area was cleaned, and all the work was completed.

When Yoko noticed, the masks that were found during the second round (which Yoko and Shu had made during art class in school) were displayed on the wall shelf. These were named “Yoko & Shu,” and they looked like guardian deities as if they had been on display for some time.

Again, we had many wonderful encounters during this round. Like other rounds, work progressed quickly due to the members' excellent work arrangements and cooperation.

It was decided that the next round would be in July and they would build a wooden deck in the backyard and install flooring in the kitchen. With excitement, Yoko headed back to Osaka.
